The Opportunity
This is a permanent role for a Panel Wirer reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager and Workshop Supervisor, responsible for providing the necessary technical expertise and support in relation to assembly of control system activities, whilst meeting agreed production quantity and quality targets in a safe manner. Work to documentation such as method statements, HS&E requirements to ensure safe systems of work. Achieving immediate and short-term objectives, such as output, quality, waste, yield, safety.
Required Abilities:
- To interpret GA diagrams for the measuring, marking out, drilling, tapping, component & equipment layout of control panel chassis plates.
- Have excellent mechanical knowledge and ability to use various hand & power tools for accurate marking & cutting of enclosures and equipment.
- To assemble in a timely and efficient manner, panels & assemblies from GA’s or Instructions with minimal supervision
- To interpret and understand schematic diagrams and be able to effectively wire control panels and equipment with minimal supervision.
- To be able to fully test & commission control panels with minimal supervision.
- To be able to fault find control panels & equipment with minimal supervision.
- To work as and when required on customer's premises with minimal supervision, following all H&S requirements
- Strong commitment to working as a team
- Use safety equipment and PPE provided
- To exercise reasonable care towards him/herself and responsibility for the H&S of others
- To comply with safe working practices and procedures at all times
- To co-operate with management and safety representatives to achieve a high standard of safety and housekeeping throughout the workplace and establish a positive QESH culture within the business
- To maintain good timekeeping
Working Environment
As normal for a manufacturing environment, work involves frequent lifting of materials. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewellery are not permitted
The Requirements
Qualifications
- Apprentice trained desirable and/or 5+ years of providing significant hands on experience.
- Safety awareness to work to documentation such as method statements and risk assessments.
Technical Skill and Experience
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- Manual dexterity required for wiring, drilling, fixing down
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with willingness to take on new skills & knowledge.
- Good aptitude to learn from and influence others with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels is essential.
- Maintain a professional appearance and approach to colleagues and customers.
- Approachable and personable in relationships with colleagues and customers.
- When travelling on company business abide by all rules and laws.
- A highly self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with good team working skills
- Current driving licence (required to drive company vans at times of site work)
